Down 2-0, The Edmonton Oilers host the Colorado Avalanche tonight in a must-win Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals tonight. Can Connor McDavid and company bounce back tonight? Tone's Takes breaks down the game.
ANALYSIS

Edmonton Oilers vs Colorado Avalanche Prediction: Can the Oilers Bounce Back in Game 3?

The Colorado Avalanche dominated Game 2 with a 4-0 shutout win over the Edmonton Oilers. Backup goalie Pavel Francouz pitched the shutout while only having to make 24 saves. The Avs blitzed the Oilers with three goals in a span of 2:04 with Nazem Kadri assisting on all three goals.

The Oilers could never recover from that. Colorado outshot the Oilers 40-24 as they neutralized Edmonton's attack. This marked the second time the Oilers have been shutout in the playoffs, with the first coming to the Kings in Game 4 of their first-round series, also on the road. Let's dive into my prediction, picks, and the odds for Game 3 between the Avalanche vs Oilers.

Edmonton Oilers vs Colorado Avalanche Game 3 Prediction

I am expecting a major bounce-back from McDavid and company tonight at home. During the playoffs, the Oilers are averaging 4.00 goals per game, 35.1 shots per game and their Power Play is 8/21, a 38% clip. Edmonton has scored four or more goals in four of the six games.

During the regular season, Edmonton averaged 3.68 goals per game at home and their Power Play clicked at a 25.8% clip. It appears Francouz will get the nod in net for the Avalanche tonight. In 10 road starts during the regular season, he had a 2.91 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. In two games, on the road, during the playoffs, Francouz has a 2.97 goals-against average and .902 save percentage.  The Oilers had a difficult time generating anything in Game 2, which could be attributed to the altitude. I am expecting a much better effort from them on home ice tonight. Whether Francouz or Kuemper goes for the Avalanche, I think Edmonton will win this game, but I see better value in their team total.
