Tonight, the Lightning try to do what not many have ever done: win their eleventh straight playoff series and go to the Stanley Cup for the third straight year. Tom Brady never did this and if the Lightning pulls this off they are the toast of the town, not Tom Brady or the Bucs. While the Rangers will try and do what they have the whole playoffs by coming back from a 3-2 deficit as they have not once, not twice, but in all three rounds this year as they are 5-0 in elimination games. We will have a Game 7 on Tuesday if they can make it six. Who will win tonight is the question and in our eyes, we think the Rangers had their chance in Game 5 and once that (home) streak ended, so did their season.
The Rangers scored four goals in three games after they scored six in the first game. They have only scored eight the rest of the series. Clearly, Tampa Bay and their goalie have both stepped up the defense and that is why they took control of the series and we know exactly when it happened. The eight-game home streak has ended for the Rangers and the Lightning now has a six-game home winning streak that the Rangers would like to end tonight. "We expect their best game of the playoffs, but we expect ourselves to be at that level too," defenseman Victor Hedman said. "We've been successful when we've had the opportunity to eliminate teams, and now we have the chance again. ... "We've got to execute like we have in previous games." The Rangers will bring everything they have because there is no tomorrow but if they can't score more than one or two goals as they have been they will be the only ones going home.
This team is on the brink of a dynasty and they can win at home, give the fans what they want, and get the Eastern Conference banner. Not that they need more firepower but center Brayden Point is back tonight as well. They also have history on their side as teams up 3-2 end up winning 79% and they are 8-2 when up 3-2 closing out a series. We have the hotter goalie, the better team at home with a chance to give their fans what they want and be the toast of the city. The Rangers have been great at coming back but tonight they are only coming back to NY to pack their lockers.
Everyone loves game seven in any sport and so do we but it's time to have the NHL finals start and they will next Wednesday in Colorado. Let's take the LIGHTNING to win tonight in regulation at -115, a very fair price at home as none of the seven games played in 2022 have gone to overtime so why start now? This has been a home-dominated series and it will stay that way. Let's enjoy watching the Rangers and the Lightning play one last time tonight on ESPN and let's get the three or four goals that Tampa scores at home and end this where it deserves to end; in Tampa.
