Panthers vs. Lightning Prediction

The second NHL wager we are diving into this evening is the battle between the Florida squads has the Tampa Bay Lightning are in town to take on the Panthers and I am excited for this one!

I would love to play the total here and probably will be doing so with the potency of these two squads and simple fact that if things get going early here they may not stop but I like a side more than that. Tampa Bay has the best net minder in the league with Andrei Vasilevskiy (people will argue Igor Shesterkin and that’s valid but the two are the best hands down, pick your poison) and he already appears to be in good form despite the record the Bolts are sporting.

After three straight runs to the cup finals Tampa Bay has played a lot of bonus hockey in the last few years so the slow start can be expected in my eyes. It does not phase me. This game reminds me of the season opener between New York and Tampa as the home squad is once again looking for vengeance for being knocked out of the playoffs last year by them, but it is a totally different matchup.

New York has an elite defense and the other top guy to have between the pipes in the league. They also won playoff games against Tampa last year.

Florida did not.

They are a little shorthanded defensively and I just think it is going to be a tough matchup for them tonight. They were swept by Tampa for a reason and although the vengeance narrative is a totally plausible one to back, they still must play an elite, hungry squad on the other side who have a brick wall between the pipes.

The Bolts are coming off two ugly losses; they were smoked by Pittsburgh and upset by Philadelphia and while it is nowhere near time to panic, they want to get back on track tonight pushing that record to 2-3 rather than 1-4. Vasilevskiy is virtually good to take what should be a goal for the other side off the board every night. This one may be 4-3 and hit the total as well but I think the Bolts come out on top in a big game.
