Although Jordan Binnington is extremely talented and has put together some incredible stretches throughout his career (especially in the playoffs) he is wildly inconsistent and the play in front of him right now does him no favors. The guy can stand on his head at any given moment and take would-be goals off the board but he is also a head case who is not having a great stretch between the pipes.
Until we see him with another strong performance and the defensive play in front of him drastically improves, the Blues will continue to find themselves in more high-scoring affairs. Offensively the notes have underachieved thus far however that core is still all there from the last few seasons and will without question regress back toward where they were last season and in the handful of games here at some point.
They continue to play well in the first period but have been getting hosed in the final forty. Too many mistakes are being made and the quality of scoring opportunities they are handing to other squads is abysmal. After opening the season with three straight victories they have dropped six straight while conceding 31 goals in that time frame.
The Bruins are sporting one of the league's best GPGs right now and they have an opportunity this evening to stomp a slumping team that took a title from them.
