Vancouver Canucks vs Ottawa Senators Prediction
The second total this evening that is catching my eye is the clash up north between the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators. Both squads are looking to right the ship and get their seasons back on track, I expect a high-scoring affair as these squads battle to earn two points and a win tonight.
Cam Talbot was great in his lone start this year. However, he faced the third-lowest-scoring team in the league. Tonight, he faces a Canucks squad that is slowly getting back on track and has been finding the back of the net again; they have scored 23 goals in their last five games for a 4.6 GPG average, and the total has hit in four of those five. They still cannot do much defensively and concede at a rate that puts them fourth-worst in the league with a 3.94 GAA.
Ottawa looked great to start the season but has now dropped six straight games, and I assume are starting to feel desperate to get back in the win column. They sport a 3.54 GAA and a 3.45 GF/G, so while they have been scoring, they are giving up plenty as well.
The total has hit in three consecutive contests between these two squads, and the last two games in Ottawa saw eight and nine goals, respectively. Vancouver still leads the league for first-period overs at 11/12 so far on the season and are 9-1 across their last ten; Ottawa is not far behind at 7-3 across their last ten. Both squads rank amongst the top three teams in the league for GIFTs this season hitting north of 80%.
Things should get started early and often in this one -- I like the total.
