Blackhawks vs Golden Knights Prediction
We saw the Golden Knights pick up a 1-0 win over the Blackhawks in Vegas’ home opener. Tonight, Chicago gets the home-ice advantage. Both teams play quite differently on the road and at home, so don’t expect another one-goal game. Instead, I’ll hope for the opposite and take the over.
The Knights have some pretty significant home-road splits. At home, Vegas is 8-7-0, only scoring an average of 2.40 goals per NHL game and giving up an average of 2.33. But on the road, the Knights are a much more impressive 13-2-1, scoring an average of 4.13 goals per game. Not to mention, nine out of the last 11 Knights' away games have ended with more than six total goals. Largely responsible for these high-scoring games is Vegas’ primary goalkeeper, Logan Thompson, who has maintained an 8-2 record on the road, despite his 3.16 away GAA.

Unfortunately for Thompson, I don’t expect him to get much help on the defensive end tonight. The Knights have been plagued by injuries this month, as they’re now without four key defensive skaters: Jack Eichel, Shea Theodore, Alex Pietrangelo, and Zach Whitecloud. Hopefully, the Knights will continue to prove their resilience and don’t let these absences stunt their offensive production.
The Blackhawks have been awful on the road, only averaging 2.00 goals per game. Although, they put up a more respectable 2.78 at home, further supporting the notion that we see a wildly different game between these two teams than we did at the beginning of the season.
Tonight will be Arvid Soderblom’s first appearance against the Golden Knights, and I don’t expect it to go very well. Soderblom has recorded seven straight losses, lending to his 2-8-2 record and 3.18 GAA. Chicago allows their opponents the fourth most shots on goal in the league, an average of 34.4 per game, so I expect Vegas to take full advantage of the bountiful scoring opportunities that arise tonight. Take over 6 -110.
