Blues vs. Flames Prediction
I said it the other day, but St. Louis has continued to be phenomenal on the offensive side of things since the eight-game losing streak and has remained one of the top-scoring teams in the NHL in that time frame. Even without Taresenko, O'Reilly, and Krug, the team has been scoring plenty and winning games, including five of their last seven. They have scored twenty-two goals across their last five games for a 4.4 GPG average which is great, but they are also conceding plenty. Aside from a shutout of the Wild last week, they have conceded 33 goals in eight games for a 4.125 GAA. They played Calgary a few weeks ago in a 5-2 victory and won again in overtime Tuesday night in a 4-3 thriller.
St. Louis has won five of the last six meetings with Calgary, and all five of those games have hit or exceeded this number. Calgary still has a strong plus-shot differential this year, and St. Louis continues to be very efficient. Calgary games have gone over in eight of their last eleven. St. Louis games have gone over in ten of their last eleven, and are now 27-13-2 for St. Louis on the season.
With backup net minders in on both sides tonight, I really like the trend to continue and think Calgary will be fired up to break the losing streak just as much as St. Louis will look to continue their dominance over the Flames.
