Florida Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Prediction
This Central Division rivalry sees the NHL’s two Floridian teams, the Lightning and the Panthers, face off for the third time this season in Sunrise, Florida. Not only has Tampa emerged victorious in both games against the Panthers this season, but they’ve won seven straight against them and look to extend that streak to eight tonight.
It can be a bit intimidating to bet on the first day back from the All-Star Break, so I’ll tread lightly in the NHL tonight. Still, recent news that Florida’s primary netminder, Sergei Bobrovsky will be starting makes a play on the Lightning worth consideration. Before his stint on the IR, Bobrovsky has noticeably struggled this season, as evidenced by his 3.25 GAA. That said, he cannot absorb all the blame, as this dismal Florida defense collectively gives up an average of 3.50 goals per game, the eighth worst in the league, and 32.7 shots against, the ninth worst.
Bobrovsky was out of commission since January 19th with a lower-body injury, and he’ll be making his return versus this familiar, but dangerous Lightning team. In his two losses earlier this season against Tampa, he allowed four and three goals. And quite frankly, I don’t see any reason he does better tonight. The Bolts have won three consecutive games and are 8-2 in their last 10. Although, there is one thing Tampa has done in 10 straight… score three or more goals.
Bet on the Lightning to put up at least three goals on Sergei Bobrovsky and the Panthers tonight, as they’ve already done twice this season. Take Tampa Bay Team Total Goals over 3 (-160) at MGM. The price may seem high, but I believe it’s worth having the push element when taking 3 rather than 3.5. Back the road team tonight.
