Well, this is not the stereotypical over I have been looking to attack this season but a combination of factors has made this spot quite appealing to my eyes and for that reason and I'm in. The Calgary Flames are in the big city tonight to clash with the New York Rangers at the Garden and I think we have a good chance to cash in on the total at a great line and price tonight.

New York Rangers vs. Calgary Flames Prediction
As many of you know, I love when I can lay a wager on a total at the line of 5.5. It is the most gettable number in the sport and there is an abundance of ways to get there. If things get going early we can cruise but even if we can head into the third with three or four, I like our chances to cash based on the general third-period pace and the empty net factor.
I never handicap down to the wire, I don't expect totals to just go over by the bare minimum but when wagering on a low total like this I have no problem accounting for that it is likely to come down to the third period in my eyes.
Both teams are among the stronger third of the league defensively but based on recent matchup history and factors we are seeing tonight, I am not worried about that. Four of the last five meetings between these two squads have gone over 5.5 as well as seven of the last ten. Those games were also predominantly played by a version of Jacob Markstrom that was much better than what we have seen for the greater majority of this season.
On the other side of the ice, it is usually one of the league's two best net minders in Igor Shesterkin for the Rangers however tonight we get Jaroslav Halak and that makes me like this spot a lot more.
