Formula 1 predictions and picks for this weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Should you be backing Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen? Find out here

Formula 1 Predictions and Picks: Hamilton or Verstappen in Abu Dhabi?

It's a dream finish to the Formula 1 season for drivers and fans alike. The entire season comes down to the final race, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, on Sunday.

The two best drivers in the world, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, enter Sunday's race tied for the lead in Drivers' Championship points with 369.5 points. Whichever driver crosses the finish line before the other while the checkered flag waves on Sunday, will be crowned this year's Drivers' Champion.

So, who should you be backing this weekend? Lewis Hamilton was the clear favorite, but now that Verstappen has qualified in pole position, who is the value play? Let's take a look at some Formula 1 Predictions for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Predictions

Earlier this week, the odds were heavily in Lewis Hamilton's favorite to win the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Following his win in Saudi Arabia, Hamilton came into this race at -200 to take the checkered flag and -180 to win the Drivers' Championship.

However, Saturday's qualifying sort of flipped those odds on their head.

Max Verstappen finished Saturday's qualifying on the pole, meaning he'll start the final race of the season in the first position, he'll be on soft tires. Meanwhile, Hamilton will start second on medium tires.

As a result, Abu Dhabi Grand Prix odds have begun to call this race more of a toss-up than anything else. Since Saturday's qualifying came to a close, Lewis Hamilton's best odds now sit at +110 and Max Verstappen's odds are now +115.

For Hamilton, that's a massive difference. At -200, Hamilton's implied probability was 66.7%. At +110, it's down to 47.6%. As for Verstappen, his odds prior to qualifying sat at +180, implying a 35.7% chance he wins. Now, his chances are up to 46.5%

My play here comes from a complete value perspective. Just a few days ago, Hamilton was a massive favorite and being bet. Now, he's at plus odds.

Verstappen still has never won a Drivers' Championship and I'm betting on that trend continuing. Give me Hamilton at plus odds.

The one thing I am worried about is the potential of Verstappen crashing out Hamilton. If neither driver finishes the race, Verstappen wins due to the tiebreaker. So, in theory, he could just take Hamilton out and win the season championship. But, Formula 1 has said that they won't hesitate to penalize any driver that purposefully causes a crash, including possibly taking points from them.
