Phil Bobbit is here to bring you his best SRX racing picks for the SRX Stafford Motor Speedway race on Saturday. Should we pivot from Tony Stewart?
ANALYSIS

SRX Racing Picks and Odds: Should We Pivot from Former NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart?

It's another race-filled holiday weekend as the United States celebrates Independence Day. Tony Stewart's Superstar Racing Experience heads to Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. Stewart (+250, Draftkings) is once again the betting favorite, after his dominating win last Saturday night in South Boston. Will he go back-to-back this July 4th weekend? Keep reading for our SRX Race Preview and Best Bet.

I just realized that I should have looked at a calendar and saved the Nicolas Cage stealing the Declaration of Independence bit instead of wasting it on an article in June, but here we are. Every good writer has a bag of tricks to dig into at a time like this. I'm not a good writer, but I do have google.

26 years ago today, America was blessed with the cinematic masterpiece Independence Day, starring Will Smith. It went on to be the highest-grossing film of 1996, bagging $817 million. I don't think aliens will attack this weekend, but if they do, let's make our last wager worth remembering.

“Let's kick the tires and light the fires, big daddy!” ~ Captain Jimmy Wilder, Independence Day

SRX Stafford Motor Speedway Pick

Hailie Deegan to win (+1200, Draftkings) (Bet $100 to win $1200)

*Odds available at DraftKings at time of publishing*

Half of you probably just stopped reading this after seeing the pick. Good. We've weeded out the weak-heartened.

SRX Stafford Motor Speedway Prediction

Stafford Motor Speedway is a half-mile, semi-banked, paved oval. Deegan does have some short-track pedigree. She grew up racing modified karts, K&N Pro Series East and West, and ARCA...all of which have tracks similar to this. She also moonlighted in the SRX last year, finishing second in her very first race.

In her second SRX race last year, she got into a very entertaining tiff with Paul Tracy that led to them spinning each other. If Deegan isn't going to cash this ticket for us, hopefully, she and Tracy manufacture some theatrics and OddsChecker gets some airtime for the best-looking car on the circuit.

We cannot underestimate how badly Deegan needs to have a good run, in any series. She's had another tough year in the Truck Series, and she is an absolute lightning rod when it comes to whether she belongs. Sponsors will be watching, and she has to show out. Having a strong performance on Saturday night against some washed-up legends may be enough to kick start her Truck Series year.

If you're into playing it safe, Ryan Newman (+600, Caesar's) is probably the best value of the favorites. He ran well again Saturday, finishing fourth and he leads the season points!
