SRX Racing Picks and Odds: Can We Trust Tony Stewart at Nashville Fairgrounds?
Gambling on racing is hard. Gambling on racing with no data is impossible. That's why we need to bask in the glory of nailing the Ryan Newman (+600) outright last weekend when the SRX series visited Stafford Motor Speedway. We're free-rolling the rest of the way, baby!

SRX Nashville Fairgrounds Prediction
Nashville Fairgrounds is a 0.596-mile speedway with 18-degree banking. It's very similar to the first three tracks we've seen so far this year. Ryan Newman leads the point standings after posting third and fourth-place finishes in the first two weeks, along with his win last week. Tony Stewart is lurking in second place 11 points behind.
Aside from the usual cast of characters, we've got IndyCar ringer Josef Newgarden in the field along with retired Nascar champion Matt Kenseth. The other celebrity is Cole Williams. A quick Google search tells me that this is either the American Film actor last credited in the TV series "Son of a Critch" as Big Tom, or the Nashville Fairgrounds track champion in the Pro Late Model Series. Either way, we're not betting on that guy.

The first thing to notice between these two books is that neither one of them have any idea what's going on. Listen, this is why betting on racing is so dope. Even in the Nascar Cup Series, you can find wild price discrepancies between books. You are really doing yourself a disservice if you're not shopping Nascar.
I tend to start at the bottom and work my way back up the board when putting cards together. What really grabs my attention is the 100/1 price on Michael Waltrip. Unfortunately, nothing to take advantage of here...he's a slug in these cars.
Paul Tracy has hands down the best-looking race car, but he's going to have shown a pulse before we can slap down some loot. Ryan Hunter-Reay has been terrible, and we can't look foolish by backing Tony Kanaan again. It's Matt Kenseth's first ride in SRX, so there will be a learning curve. I would expect him to improve and be a play-on candidate if we see him on the roster before the season ends.
There are three realistic choices. Tony Stewart (+350) finally won one of these things on asphalt two weeks ago. Ryan Newman (+500) has been the most consistent performer this year, and Josef Newgarden (+1200). Newgarden has won three IndyCar races this season...most recently when we had a winning ticket in our pocket. Obviously, we're high on this guy. But Newgarden has spent nearly his whole career NOT driving on short tracks. He started out by racing motorized karts, so maybe he can summon his inner 12-year-old for help in this event. So...two realistic choices.
SRX Nashville Fairgrounds Pick
Tony Stewart to win (+350) (Bet $100 to win $350)
*Odds available at Draftkings at time of publishing*
It feels square to take the favorite, but it's the only move. +350 implies he wins 2/6 races this year...and it's not unrealistic to see him bagging three. It's a short number, but it is not short enough. Lock it in!
