F1 Monaco Grand Prix Best Bets: Where Will Sergio Perez Finish?
Formula One has an early 9 am EST on the slim streets of Monaco, Monte Carlo. When I tell you that passing is nearly impossible here, it is not an understatement. The course requires drivers to be nearly perfect during each lap or they will crash. The corners are narrow and there are no run-off areas.
We all love betting. That's why we're here. Formula One has seen a dramatic rise in popularity here in the US because of last season's astonishing championship finale and the Netflix series. However, if you're a new fan and you're thinking about making this the first F1 race you watch...wait two weeks until Azerbaijan. Of course, bet this weekend anyway.
Since 1950, the Monaco street course has mainly remained unchanged. There were several passing zones 70 years ago, however, the cars are MUCH bigger now, and the course isn't. Passing will happen only by virtue of winners and losers on pit roads and accidents. Let's dive into my prediction, best bets, and the odds for F1's Monaco GP.

1.0u Sergio Perez to finish on the Podium (+150) (Bet $100 to win $150)
*Odds available at BetMGM at time of publishing*
We are writing Charles Leclerc to win this thing in Sharpie and so are the books (-280, Draftkings). Don't bet that. We are then penciling in Leclerc's teammate Carlos Sainz to finish on the podium as well (-200, Draftkings). Don't bet that either. That leaves us with one remaining spot that will most likely go to one of the Red Bull teammates, Max Verstappen or Sergio Perez.
It's a daunting task to predict Max Verstappen to not finish on a podium. But the facts are that Ferrari's equipment matches up to this course better than Red Bull and that Perez has been better than Verstappen throughout the entirety of this weekend's practices and qualifying.
In practice session No. 1, Perez ranked P2, sandwiched between the Ferrari drivers. Practice session No. 2 had Perez ranked P3, behind Leclerc and Sainz, but still ahead of Verstappen. Practice No. 3 saw Perez lead the way in P1 ahead of the Ferrari and Verstappen in P4.
Perez will start ahead of Verstappen in P3, and we know he is better on speed than Max. Our only concern is that team orders may have Verstappen as the priority driver since he is the Championship contender. We would be really hot if Perez has to yield after being faster in every session this weekend.
