ANALYSIS

Auto Club 400 Prediction: Pulling Off an Unpopular Fade

We took a look at Saturday's Xfinity Series race already, but if there's one thing we know, it's that we need action on Sunday's main event. Lucky for us, Draftkings hung an egregious number, and the head brass at OddsChecker brought us in to take advantage of situations like this. Let's make a little (or alot) of extra scratch this weekend!

It is never easy to fade Nascar's "Most Popular Driver." Disclaimer: the speedwaysteve2 gang are both Chase Elliott fans. However, Elliott has never delivered us auto parts from Napa or taken us to Hooter's for boneless wings and fried pickles. We must remain loyal to our wallets, and hit the submit button on this beaut.

Auto Club 400 Prediction

Kyle Busch to finish ahead of Chase Elliott @ -110 (Bet $110 to win $100) (DraftKings)

Fontana, California's Auto Club Speedway is Kyle Busch's playground. Statistically, this is one of his best tracks, winning 4 times in 22 starts and finishing in the top-ten 16 times. He's led 807 laps during his career here, compared to Chase Elliott's five. There truly is no one better on this 2.0 mile tire-blaster. He shows expert skill at saving his equipment while having elite speed throughout the entirety of a run. In 2020, Busch ranked #1 in speed late during a run, and second in overall speed. This compares well to Elliott's fourth and fourth rankings, respectively. In 2019, Busch was the fastest driver under green flag conditions, with Elliott checking in at 12.

We rewatched the 2020 race, and Elliott had consistent tire issues. He would run the car too hard early in the run, and corded them. Elliott is one of the best in the business on road courses and he possesses unmatched feel for for saving tires and fuel under long green flag conditions. It is a riddle wrapped in an enigma why it does not translate to the high-wear, abrasive surface on Sunday. Let's cash this one!

1.0u Kyle Busch to finish in the Top-5 @ +100 (Bet $100 to win $100) (BetMGM)
