Blue Emu 400 Prediction: NASCAR Cup Series Preview and Best Bets
Yikes. The Xfinity race...what a fiasco. With 3 laps to go, we had Ty Gibbs and Noah Gragson firmly in position to cash our plus money tickets. We then witnessed a 19 car pile-up, and suffered two brutal bad beats. Alas, this season is a marathon and not a sprint, and we're trying to predict the most unpredictable sport on the planet. You can't win your money back if you don't get back at it. You can, however, return a faulty broom for cash and put it on these.
Blue Emu 400 Prediction
I'm way late to the party, but I started binge-watching Cobra Kai on Netflix. Maybe I was inspired by Slop's awesome shirt in his last bowling video, or I'm a sucker for karate. It really could be either one. But I'll tell ya what, we can take some advice from it for tomorrow's race. "Strike First...Stirke Hard...No Mercy."
We're up shopping the openers, so you don't have to. We found some good value, but here are the best bets for the Blu Emu 400.
- 0.25u to win 2.5u - William Byron to win @ +1000 (Bet $100 to win $1000)
- 1.0u to win 1.0u - William Byron to finish in the Top-5 @ +100 (Bet $100 to win $100)
- 1.2u to win 1.0 - William Byron to finish better than Christopher Bell @ -120 (Bet $120 to win $100)
William Byron checks all the boxes for us this weekend, and I think he's going to cash quite a few tickets for the OddscheckerUs faithful. Byron had a few nice finishes in the two races at Martinsville in 2021, finishing 4th and 5th respectively. He failed to lead in either race but did turn a combined 30 laps.
He was also the fastest in 15 lap average during practice yesterday and had the fastest overall average. We also anticipate that pit road will play a huge role in this race, and that's great news. Byron is elite and getting on and off pit road, and his crew is top tier at giving Byron quick service. Byron will be up-front all day, and his Hendrick crew will keep him there.
Christopher Bell, in comparison, finished 17th and 7th in last year's contests. Bell only managed 18 fast laps between the two races. Yesterday in practice, Bell ranked behind Byron in overall speed average, 5-lap, 10-lap, and 15-lap data. We talked about Byron's crew, but its also important to note that Bell ranks significantly behind Byron in speed on/off pit road, and the crew itself is slower. Willy B. checks the boxes, and we get the loot.
Blue Emu 400 Quick Hitter
1.0u - Brad Keselowski to finish Top-10 @ +110 (Bet $100 to win $110)
You're probably thinking, "Man, its tough to place a bet on Brad K." You would be right. It is hard, but so is watching Robby act in Cobra Kai for more than 30 seconds. You have to sometimes do something hard for the greater good.
Brad has a STELLAR history here, finishing in the top-5 10 out of the last 12 trips here. We know Keselowski hasn't been nearly as competitive since he became part-owner of his race team, however, Martinsville is just the spot to get his season back on track. Brad has an upper-echelon team doing the car's service, but he has been less than average getting on/off pit road. He's a former Series Champion with lots of veteran experience. He will personally improve his times, and we think that it starts this week.
During practice, he flashed decent short-run speed but was lacking long-run speed. His teammate, Chris Buescher was toting the mail though, so the team has the capability to find speed. Let's cash a plus-money, under-the-weather ticket.
