NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Texas Prediction: Will Zane Smith Finish Strong?

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Prediction

NASCAR heads to the 1.5-mile tri-oval of Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. The Camping World Truck Series kicks things off on Friday night.

Happy weekend, race gang! One could almost compare last week's article plays to gymnastics in the Olympics...there were splits everywhere. We've got two races this weekend to turn a profit, so let's not waste any time, and let's skip to the good part.

It's no secret that some things are just better when paired up with something else. Peanut butter and jelly...that's a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. Batman and Robin, Saturday and Sunday, and Beavis and Butthead all belong on Mount Rushmore. Knocking on the door for entry into this elite club is @speedwaysteve2 and winning at Texas.

Corey Heim to finish better than Carson Hocevar (-112) (Bet $112 to win $100)

*Odds at SugarHouse/Parx/BetRivers at time of publishing*

I'll be the first to admit when I've made a terrible mistake. I compared Corey Heim to Preparation-H ointment last weekend. We lucked out, and he experienced some late-race trouble cashing our ticket, but we've learned our lesson.

Heim was ridiculously fast last weekend at Kansas, which is a good comparison for this weekend. He led 18 laps, turned 22 of the fastest laps, and won the first stage...far from an itching/discomfort cream.

Hocevar, when looking at his history at Kansas/Texas/Charlotte, tends to struggle a bit on these low-wear 1.5-mile circuits. His average finish is 13th in four starts on the comparables, has only led 3.3 laps on average, and registered 1.3 fast laps. His closer rate is a putrid -6.8. We like Hocevar in general and respect his hat game, but Heim should easily take care of business here.

Zane Smith to finish inside the Top-3 (+140) (Bet $100 to win $140)

*Odds available at DraftKings at time of publishing*

Zane Smith resembled a NASA astronaut in Kansas last weekend because he was driving a rocket ship. He turned an eye-popping 68(!) fast laps last weekend, in what was a brand new truck en route to taking the checkered flag. Most importantly, he kept it all in one piece and will look to duplicate the effort. Simply put, Smith was untouchable and we don't foresee any other teams catching up to his pace in a short week. Sprinkle his outright win number (+500) for added fun!
