Go Bowling at The Glen Prediction

Last weekend at Richmond Raceway, we had Chase Elliott finish fifth, well ahead of ninth place, and miserable Kyle Busch. Ryan Blaney had an unimpressive day finishing 10th, but it was more than enough to cash a ticket against Ross Chastain (18th).

We head to New York this weekend as the Cup Series drivers aim to battle each other and Watkins Glen International, a 2.454-mile course. It is sometimes referred to as the "Super Speedway" of road racing due to the higher speeds, and fewer heavy braking zones. We should keep in mind that as of publication, there is a 50% chance of rain. We're going to hedge against that risk and target a few road course aces.

Chase Elliott to finish inside the Top-3 (+155) (Bet $100 to win $155)

*Odds available at Fanduel at time of publishing*

You simply cannot attempt to handicap a NASCAR Cup Series road course race and not start with Chase Elliott. He is the undisputed No. 1 road course racer in NASCAR's premier division. Tyler Reddick is starting to enter the conversation, but the sheer volume of success on Elliott's resume allows him to keep the throne.

In the 16 road course races since 2019, Elliott has won six. His 7.1 average finishing position is first...by over four positions! He's led a staggering 25.2% of the laps over that time frame.

We haven't seen Elliott win on a road course so far in 2022, but he's packed in some fantastic metrics. His average running position (8.4), driver rating (109.95), and average finishing position (7.5) are second in the series. He has led the most road course laps (62) while also turning the fastest laps (45) this season. He should factor into the outright win on Sunday, but the number FanDuel is dangling in front of us for a Top-3 finish is just too good to pass up here. We definitely won't talk you out of his short number (+500 market-wide), but there are a couple of long shots down the board we prefer. Is that a tease? I think it's a tease.

Christopher Buescher to finish inside the Top-10 (-110) (Bet $110 to win $100)

*Odds available at Draftkings at time of publishing*

Chris Buescher. Christopher Buescher. This guy doesn't even know what to call himself nowadays. But what he does know is, how to turn left and right on Sunday afternoons. When you think of Buescher, road course ace probably isn't at the top of the list. Or maybe it is. I'm not a mind reader. But this recent run of good form on these circuits is enough for us to get down. Let's fire on this prop.

Since 2019, Buescher has the sixth-best average finish (13.0). In 2022, Buescher has cashed the Top-10 ticket three times in four races. He's fourth in average finish (9.8) and third in average fast laps (6.3). He also is near the top of the board in average closing rate, gaining an average of 3.8 spots in the last 10% of the race. That shows us that he is constantly improving his car throughout the race and gets er' honed in at the right time.

It looks like Buescher is starting to catch some steam across all sportsbooks for this market. Lock it in now and thank us on Sunday!

We'll be back later in the week with Xfinity wagers and another Cup article after practice/qualifying!
