We head to Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland for a $42,000 allowance race for 4-year-olds and up fillies and mares going about 1 1/16 miles on the dirt. The field of 7 will go to gate for race 5 on the 8-race card with an approximate post time of 2:18 p.m. ET.

#7, Team Win, Tyler Conner, 4-1 - Team Win is looking for her first win since a starter allowance race at Saratoga back on July 31. She has finished out of the money in three straight starts, including a fourth-place finish in her last, an allowance race at Aqueduct on Jan. 19. This will be her first start at Laurel Park and maybe getting out of the trio of New York tracks will do her good. She has the outside post for trainer Todd Pletcher and Tyler Conner is aboard. Taking a shot. The pick.

#5, Bird Traffic, Trevor McCarthy, 5-2 - Bird Traffic has finished in the money in seven straight starts (3-2-2) and in her last finished second in an allowance race here on Jan. 19. This will be her fourth straight start at Laurel Park, where she has not finished out of the money. Trevor McCarthy is aboard for trainer Kieron Magee. She will be tough to beat, but I’m taking a shot. Runner-up.

#1, Artful Splatter, Alex Cintron, 8-5 - Also tough to beat will be Artful Splatter, who has finished in the money in her last seven starts, highlighted by four straight victories including a ½ length win in the Geisha Stakes in her last on Jan. 18. She has never raced away from Laurel Park (15-5-3-2). Alex Cintron gets the mount again for trainer Kieron Magee, who also has my second choice, Bird Traffic, in today’s race. She loves the place and looks to make it five in a row. Contender.

#2, Saltworks, Sheldon Russell, 12-1 - Four of her last five career starts have been here, including her only win in a waiver maiden claiming race on April 26. However, she is winless in her last three starts, including a disappointing seventh-place finish in an allowance optional claiming race on Jan.11, her last start. I think with Sheldon Russell in the saddle for trainer Katherine Voss, she can sneak in there for a fourth. We shall see. She is definitely familiar with the track. In the mix.
