Monday Racing Picks 10/21: Shesastonecoldfox Stakes
The start of another week of racing brings us to Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, New York for the $50,000 Shesastonecoldfox Stakes for 2-year-old state-bred fillies over six furlongs.
The short field of 5 will go to gate for race 4 of the 9-race card with an approximate post time of 2:31 p.m. ET.
#5, Single Verse, Dylan Davis, 5-1
Single Verse has finished in the money in all four career starts this year (1-3-0) and is coming off a 3 ½ length victory in a maiden special weight race at Belmont Park on Oct. 4. Prior to that, she had a runner-up finish to 6 ¾ length winner My Italian Rabbi in the Lady Finger Stakes at Finger Lakes on Sept. 9. Dylan Davis is back in the saddle for his third straight start and draws the outside post from post position 5. I think Single Verse redeems herself and makes amends for her last start here. The pick.
#2, Rush On By, Oscar Gomez, 7-5
Morning-line favorite Rush On By rushed on by everyone in her debut, romping by 13 lengths in a maiden special weight race here 13 days ago. Oscar Gomez returns to the mount off the impressive victory. Can she duplicate her effort? She very well could, but looking elsewhere. Runner-up.
#3, Spin a Yarn, Jaime Rodriguez, 9-2
Similar to Rush On By, Spin a Yarn romped in her debut, winning by 12 ½ lengths in a maiden special weight here on Sept. 23 for owners Chester and Mary Broman, who also own Rush On By. Jaime Rodriguez also returns to the mount for his second straight start. The same thing applies - Can she duplicate her effort? She very well could, but looking elsewhere. Contender.
#1, Thea’s Theme, Luis Colon, 5-1
After coming off a nose victory in her debut at Saratoga on Aug. 7, Thea’s Theme followed up with a disappointing fifth in a six-horse field in the $150,000 Joseph A. Gimma Stakes at Belmont Park on Sept. 18. Luis Colon gets his first start aboard for trainer Jeremiah Englehart. In the mix.
