The fourth Breeders’ Cup race of the day is the $2 million Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, a 1 ¼-mile race for 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares. The field of 12 is slated as race 7 with an approximate post time of 4:54 p.m. ET.

#2, Sistercharlie (IRE), John Velazquez, 8-5

The defending champion and morning-line favorite, Sistercharlie (IRE), is going to be tough to beat let’s face it. She has won six straight Grade 1s and is 10-3-0 in 14 career starts. Trainer Chad Brown is shooting for his fifth Filly & Mare Turf crown. Only setback is this will be her first start ever on West Coast. Does it matter? It might, considering how my second choice, loves the place. The pick.

#7, Vasilika, Flavien Prat, 8-1

Making her 36th career start (18-4-5), I think Vasilika has a big chance in this. She has won a remarkable 10 straight and 11 of her last 12 races at Santa Anita. Today marks her 12th straight graded stakes race (8-0-2), including a third-place finish in the G1 First Lady Stakes at Keeneland on Oct. 5. Her last win here was in the G1 Gamely Stakes on May 27, where she won by a length over second-choice Rymska (FR). I love her chances, just tough to pick against top choice. Runner-up.

#12, Fanny Logan, Frankie Dettori, 15-1

She is 5-0-1 in seven starts this year and has won four straight entering this, including the G3 Darley Pride Stakes at Newmarket on Oct. 11. This will be her first trip to the states. The duo of trainer John Gosden and jockey Frankie Dettori is always formidable and she will be getting long odds as she hasn’t faced anything like this group across the pond. Contender.

#3, Fleeting (IRE), Ryan Moore, 6-1

Trainer Aidan O’Brien brings over Fleeting (IRE) for his second start in the states, since a fourth-place finish in the G1 Beverly D. Stakes at Arlington on Aug. 10. O’Brien has not had good fortune in this race as he is 0-2-2 in 13 starts. Maybe today is the day to turn the tides or at least get a piece. In the mix.
