Sunday's racing picks from the one and only Lou Monaco

Did you guys think the Santa Anita autumn meet was over yesterday with the Breeders’ Cup finale?

Think again.

Santa Anita closes out its fall meet today, highlighted by the $200,000 Grade 2 Goldikova Stakes, a one mile affair for 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares on the turf. A field of 7 is slated as race 8 of the 9-race card with an approximate post time of 7:47 p.m. ET.

#6, Ms Bad Behavior, Drayden Van Dyke, 3-1

Ms Bad Behavior will be making her 19th career start (4-7-3) today and only the sixth (1-1-1) this year. She posted a 1 ½ length win over Mitchell Road and today’s entrant Simply Breathless (GB) in the G3 Three Chimneys Ladies Turf Stakes at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 7, but followed with a disappointing 10th-place performance in the $400,000 G1 First Lady Stakes at Keeneland on Oct. 5. She came to the right place to make up for that performance as she is now home and sports a 3-6-1 record in 11 career starts here. It seems like the majority of the Santa Anita jockey colony has had at least one ride aboard and now its Drayden Van Dyke’s turn for his first mount aboard. I think she will improve with a much-better post position from that 10th-place finish last out and will rebound at a place she is most familiar with for trainer Richard Baltas. The pick.

#5, Toinette, Flavien Prat, 6-5

This will be Toinette’s 10th career start (6-0-1), her fourth this year (2-0-1) and is a perfect 3-for-3 lifetime here. She took home the Swingtime Stakes by 1 ½ lengths here in her last over Quebec and Super Patriot on Oct. 5. Trained by Neil Drysdale, Toinette saddles Flavien Prat for the ride for his sixth start dating back to last year. She has raced and won against some exceptional company. More than likely the winner, but taking a chance with another. Runner-up.

#2, Coach Rocks, David Cohen, 5-1

Coach Rocks has won two of her last four races, including her last by a nose over Daddy’s Boo and Phantom Opening in a $102,000 allowance optional claiming race at Churchill Downs on Sept. 27. This will be her eight graded stakes race, where she has posted just one win in her first, a 1 ½ length triumph over Take Charge Paula and Princess Warrior in the $300,000 G2 Gulfstream Park Oaks on March 31, 2018. We shall see if her last time out should help her improve. Contender.

#4, Simply Breathless (GB), Joel Rosario, 5-1

Simply Breathless (GB) has posted two straight thirds and a fifth, since his last win by 1 ¼ lengths over Ollie’s Candy and Storm the Hill in the G3 Wilshire Stakes in his only start here on June 22. So she has a win here under her belt over this track for trainer Neil Drysdale. Joel Rosario is back for his second straight start since that fifth-place finish in the G3 Athenia Stakes at Belmont Park in his last on Oct. 20, so expect a much-improved ride. In the mix.

PICKS: 6-5-2-4
