Monday Racing Picks 11/04: Parx Raceway
After a tremendous Breeders’ Cup weekend on the West Coast, a new racing week begins today with the $75,000 Parx Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Parx Racing in Bensalem, Pa. A field of nine is slated for race 9 of the day’s 10-race card with an approximate post time of 5:01 p.m. ET.
#4, Persian Queen, Hector Diaz, Jr., 7-2
Persian Queen will be making her fifth start of the season (2-0-0) today and is coming off a 1 ¾ length victory in a $34,000 starter allowance race at Keeneland on Oct. 17, bouncing back from two out of the money finishes at Monmouth Park and Saratoga in her last two races prior. The win at Keeneland will boost the confidence level for sure and I think that continues with Hector Diaz, Jr. aboard for his first ride. The pick.
#2, Project Whiskey, Frankie Pennington, 9-5
The morning-line favorite is 1-0-2 in three career starts this year and is coming off an impressive 5 ½ length win in a maiden special weight race here on Sept. 21. Frankie Pennington returns to the saddle off that win and is a plus entering today’s race. Runner-up.
#1/1A, Still Alive/Fly On Angel, John Bisono, 3-1
Jockey John Bisono is listed aboard this coupled entry. Fly On Angel is coming off a fourth-place finish in just her second start here on Oct. 20. She broke her maiden in a maiden special weight at Penn National on Sept. 25, winning by an impressive six lengths in a field of seven. Still Alive has won two races in four starts, both coming here, including her last in an allowance optional claimer by a solid 4 ½ lengths over today’s entrant Lula’s Roadrunner on Oct. 20. Contender.
#6, Lula’s Roadrunner, (GB), Mychel Sanchez, 5-1
Lula’s Roadrunner is 1-2-0 in four career starts this year and has posted back-to-back runner-up finishes in her last two starts at Parx (see above analysis) and Presque Isle Downs. She returns to Parx for only her second visit, since a neck debut win in a maiden special weight race on June 24. Her last outing bothers me, where she posted second to Still Alive. In the mix.
