Today we head North of the Border to visit Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto for the $100,000 La Prevoyante Stakes for restricted 3-year-old fillies over 1 1/16 miles.

The short field of nine is slotted as race 3 of the day’s 10-race card and has an approximate post time of 2:05 p.m. ET

#2, Miss Ariel, Kazushi Kimura, 5-2

Miss Ariel makes her eighth start this season (2-0-3) and is coming off a disappointing sixth-place finish in the Carotene Stakes on Oct. 20 here. Prior to that, she finished with back-to-back third-place finishes in the Ontario Damsel Stakes on Sept. 22 and Passing Mood Stakes on Aug. 31, both also at Woodbine. She will be cutting back on distance today with new rider Kazushi Kimura and will be looking for her first win since an optional claiming triumph by a neck on Aug. 4. I’m going to take a shot with the new jock and the cutback in distance as she likes to get out in front early. The pick.

#6, Sav, Justin Stein, 8-5

The morning-line favorite has finished in the money in eight of her 10 career starts (3-4-1) and is 2-3-1 in six starts this year as she comes off a commanding 6 ½ length win in an optional claiming race here on Oct. 14. The probable winner is ready for her first stakes win for jockey Justin Stein and Ricky Griffith, but taking a shot with another. Runner-up.

#4, Ciuri, Patrick Husbands, 3-1

Ciuri is a different filly after her neck win over today’s entrant Sav in the $100,000 Lady Angela Stakes here on June 28. In her last three starts, she has finished 10th, 5th and 8th. A different approach is expected today with veteran jock Patrick Husbands aboard for the first time and I think the improvement will show for trainer Robert Tiller, but it won’t be enough. Contender.

#5, Royal Wedding, Rafael Hernandez, 6-1

Royal Wedding has finished in the money in four of her last six starts, including a runner-up finish two back in an optional claiming race here on Sept. 28. In her last start, an allowance race on Oct. 19, she finished fourth, but rallied from seventh in the stretch to give her a shot. I think that kick might come into play today for a minor spot. In the mix.

PICKS:  2-6-4-5
