Wednesday's Racing Picks 11/13: Gulfstream Park West
Coming off a win Monday at Aqueduct and taking a one-day hiatus on Tuesday, we are back at it for the week. Due to frigid temperatures in the Midwest and on the East Coast, some tracks have already cancelled their cards for today including Churchill Downs, so we will start off down South at Gulfstream Park West in beautiful Hallandale Beach, Florida.
We will take a look at a $50,000 maiden claiming race (purse: $34,000) for 2-year-old fillies over one mile on the dirt. The field of 7 will go to the gate for race 5 of the 8-race card with an approximate post time of 3:21 p.m. ET.
#7, Honesta, Cristian Torres, 3-1
Honesta will be making her third start of her career for trainer Armando De La Cerda. Here best finish was fifth in a maiden special weight race here on Sept. 8 and followed that up with a 7th-place finish on Sept. 22. Cristian Torres becomes the third jockey in as many starts to get the mount and must have a better start than in the previous two. The pick.
#3, Cat’s J N J, Isaac Castillo, 7-2
Cat’s J N J, a daughter of 22-graded stakes winner Mineshaft, makes her debut for trainer Jorge Navarro. Navarro will be using Lasix on Cat’s J N J for the first time out. Isaac Castillo gets the first mount. Runner-up.
