Wednesday's Racing Picks 11/27: Aqueduct
Thanksgiving Eve brings us back to New York for a $75,000 allowance race for 3-year-olds and up, fillies & mares over one mile on the dirt. The short field of 6 will go to gate for race 8 of the 9-race card with an approximate post time of 3:47 p.m. ET.
#5, Foolish Living, Irad Ortiz, Jr., 5-2
One of two Chad Brown-trained fillies in today’s race, the second-choice money-line favorite, Foolish Living, is making her fourth career start after a third-place finish in an allowance race at Belmont Park on Sept. 18. Irad Ortiz, Jr. returns for his second straight start, which is a huge positive. Brown’s other horse is the even money morning-line favorite, but we are taking a chance with the other entrant. The pick.
#6, Trial and Error, Javier Castellano, Chad Brown, 1-1
The even-money morning-line favorite makes her fifth career start (1-2-0) and comes off a nose victory in a maiden special weight race at Belmont Park on Oct. 24. Javier Castellano makes his third straight start (1-1-0) for trainer Chad Brown as Trial and Error is making her first-ever Big A start. Off her last two starts, she has certainly earned ML favorite status and has an excellent shot at taking this, but we are taking a shot with Brown’s other entrant. Runner-up.
#1, My Roxy Girl, Manuel Franco, 5-1
By far the most experience in the field as she makes her 36th career start (7-11-6) and 14th this year (3-2-4), My Roxy Girl enters today coming off four straight in-the-money finishes (1-1-2), including two straight third-place finishes at the Big A in the New York Stallion Series Stakes on Nov. 10 and an starter allowance race on Nov. 22. Huge experience and an underrated jockey in Manuel Franco aboard for trainer Linda Rice, she will be right there at the end. Contender.#3, Mrs. Orb, Dylan Davis, 7-2 - She enters today’s race winning two straight and three of her last four, including a 2 ¼ length victory in an allowance optional claiming race at Aqueduct on Nov. 1. Dylan Davis makes his fourth straight mount in the saddle for trainer Michael Miceli. Can’t come in any hotter. In the mix.
