The Big A is the centerpiece of the horse racing world today as the $750,000 Grade 1 Cigar Mile Handicap for 3-year-olds and up over one mile on the dirt takes center stage. The field of 11 will go to gate for race 10 on the 10-race card with an approximate post time of 4:16  p.m. ET.

#5, Maximum Security, Luis Saez, 3-2

Maximum Security will be making his ninth start of his career (6-1-0) and will be seeking his seventh win in his last nine starts. I want to pick against him but just can’t do right now. The Pick.

#6, Spun to Run, Irad Ortiz, Jr., 5-2

Spun to Run has won two straight and  three of its last four races, highlighted by a 2 ¾ length win over Omaha Beach in the Big Ass Fans Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile at Santa Anita on Nov. 2. This will be his fifth graded stakes race (2-0-1). Irad Ortiz, Jr. is in the saddle for trainer Juan Guerrero. Runner-up.

#1, Whitmore, Joel Rosario, 8-1

The most experienced horse in the field (30-12-9-3) has finished in the money in three of his last five starts, including a third-place finish in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Santa Anita on Nov. 2. Contender.

#2, Bal Harbour, John Velazquez, 8-1

Bal Harbour has finished in the money in his last five starts (0-3-2) and is seeking his first win since a 2 ¾ length win to capture the Gio Ponti Stakes at Aqueduct on Nov. 23, 2018. In the mix.

PICKS: 5-6-1-2
