Racing expert Sweet Lou Monaco's picks for the fourth at Aqueduct
ANALYSIS

We are back to the cold weather of Aqueduct in New York for a $68,000 maiden special weight race for 3-year-old fillies over six furlongs on the dirt. The short field of six will go to gate for race four on the eight-race card with an approximate post time of 2:25 p.m. ET.

#3, Tale of Perfect La, Jose Lezcano, 9-2

She has finished fourth and sixth in her two career starts at Parx Racing (9/2, 9/21) for trainer Linda Rice. Jose Lezcano is in the irons, which means a whole different strategy entering today’s race. I think she gets it done at a nice price. The pick.

#5, Mama Kin, Eric Cancel, 5-1

First-ever career start for trainer Carlos Martin with solid rider Eric Cancel. With first-time starters, you never know what you will get but I like how Cancel has run here and think she will get her career off to a nice start. Runner-up.

#2, Kansas Kis, Dylan Davis, 7-5

The morning-line favorite has four career starts (0-2-1) and is a vet of today’s group. She has two in-the-money finishes, both at the Big A in her last two starts, including a runner-up finish, 3 ¾ lengths back where she was bumped at the start, to Love of My Heart in a maiden special weight race here on Dec. 22. Dylan Davis has the call for trainer Raymond Handal. I think she could be ready for her first win and will be right there at the end. Contender.

#4, French Café, Manuel Franco, 6-1

She has one career start where she finished sixth in a maiden special weight race, where today’s entrant Kansas Kis finished second, on Dec. 22. Manuel Franco gets the call for his first start aboard for trainer Michael Maker and that should help. In the mix.

PICKS: 3-5-2-4
