Racing expert Sweet Lou Monaco's picks for the first at Parx Racing

The start of the racing week brings us to Parx Racing in Bensalem, Pennsylvania for a maiden special weight race for 3-year-old fillies over six furlongs on the dirt. The field of 7 will go to gate for race 1 on the 10-race card with an approximate post time of 12:25 p.m. ET.

#5, Congrats Answer, Dexter Haddock, 9-2

Winless in two starts last year, she comes off a fourth-place finish in her first start here at Parx on Dec. 30 in a maiden special weight race. Dexter Haddock gets the call for trainer Regina Brennan and will be the third different jock aboard. I do like that she has had a start over this surface and will take a shot. The pick.

#1, Shez a Doubletake, Frankie Pennington, 7-2

This will be her first career start under trainer John Servis. Servis has had 10 starts here for the meet (4-1-2) and track favorite Frankie Pennington is aboard. With no starts, she is the morning-line favorite. We shall see if she holds up to the high expectations. Runner-up.

#6, Bucky Be Lucky, Luis Ocasio, 5-1

Another starter who will be making her first start. Luis Ocasio has the call for trainer Louis Linder, Jr. Linder is 3-0-5 in 19 starts here through Saturday and is currently ranked 11th in the meet’s trainer standings. Contender.

#4, Guatavita, Tyler Conner, 4-1

Things come in threes, as another starter will be making her career debut.  Tyler Conner gets the call today for trainer Francis Abbott. It’s always good to see how career debuts begin for these horses and you have a bunch of them here in my top four selections. In the mix.
