Race 9 @ Gulfstream Park - PICKS: 4-2-5-1

Back to Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida we go as we take a look at a $62,500 allowance optional claiming race (purse: $52,000) for 4-year-olds and up fillies and mares over six furlongs on the dirt. The short field of 5 will go to gate for race 9 on the 10-race card with an approximate post time of 5:03 p.m. ET.

#4, Day by Day, Tyler Gaffalione, 9-5 - Day by Day will race in her third straight allowance optional claimer at Gulfstream Park, having won her last start on Jan. 31 by 3 ½ lengths as the second choice. This will be her 30th career start (7-9-6) and 14th at GP (3-6-2). Tyler Gaffalione is in the saddle for trainer Jorge Delgado. The second morning-line choice is my first choice today. The pick.

#2, Baccarat Fashion, Roberto Alvarado, 8-5 - The morning-line favorite will be making her 20th career start (4-6-0) and she is looking for her first win since an allowance optional claiming race at Gulfstream Park West on Oct. 24, three starts ago. In her last, she ran a disappointing seventh in the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes here on Jan. 25. Roberto Alvarado, Jr. has the mount for trainer Peter Wilder. Runner-up.

#5, Sean’s Idea, Cristian Torres, 7-2 - Sean’s Idea will also be making her 20th career start (4-2-1) and is looking for her first win since an allowance optional claiming race at Tampa Bay Downs on Nov. 30. In her last start, she finished seventh in the Minaret Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 15. This will be her 17th career start at Gulfstream Park, winning twice including an allowance optional claiming triumph on June 21. Cristian Torres has the mount for trainer Mark Molina. Contender.

#1, W W Fitzy, Marcos Meneses, 6-1 - This will be her first start at Gulfstream Park where she is making her 11th career appearance (5-1-1). She capped off a three-race win streak with an allowance optional claiming triumph on Aug. 27 at Fairmount Park and in her last start, finished fourth in the Powerless Handicap at Hawthorne on Nov. 15. In the mix.
