Parx Racing Race 6 - PICK: #3 Mr Classical
#3, Mr Classical, Chris DeCarlo, 7-2
This will be Mr Classical’s third straight start over the Parx surface, finishing third in a claiming in his last on Feb. 4. He is looking for his first win since a maiden claiming race at Santa Anita on June 8. I think the previous two starts will help him here as he is now a bit more comfortable with the track. Chris DeCarlo is in the saddle for trainer Philip Aristone. I think he steps up here at a fair price.
Verdict: The pick
#1, You Must Chill, Frankie Pennington, 9-5
This will be his 12th career start (1-1-4) with all of his starts prior in California. He enters today’s race off a third-place finish in a claiming race at Santa Anita on Jan. 5 and is looking for his first win since a maiden claiming triumph at Santa Anita just over a year ago on Feb. 28. He is in good hands today with Frankie Pennington taking the mount for trainer Marcos Zulueta.
Verdict: Runner-up
#4, Jane’s Factor, Ruben Silvera, 9-2
He has finished in the money in two of his last three starts, but is coming off a fourth-place finish in an allowance race at Parx on Feb. 1. This is his 8th career start (1-1-1) all at Parx, so he is definitely comfortable here as he looks for his first win since a waiver maiden claiming race back on Dec. 10. Ruben Silvera is in the saddle for trainer Louis Linder, Jr. Could surprise here.
Verdict: Contender
#2, Methodical, Mychel Sanchez, 6-1
In his fifth career try here in his last, he notched his first career win by a solid four lengths in a waiver maiden claiming race on Jan. 21 to extend his in the money streak to three straight. Prior to that he finished second in back-to-back maiden claiming races on Nov. 2 and Nov. 16. The win last time out definitely is a step in the right direction and the last three starts here shows he can contend. Another positive, Mychel Sanchez gets the call for trainer Kathleen Demasi.
Verdict:Â In the mix.****
