Expert racing handicapper Sweet Lou Monaco tells us who he's backing in Friday's race 1 at Oaklawn Park
ANALYSIS

Oaklawn Park Race 1 - PICK: #1 Sara Sea

#1, Sara Sea, Declan Cannon, 4-1

This will be her 12th career start today (2-0-0), with her two wins coming in her last four starts. This will be her fourth start at Oaklawn Park, where she won an allowance race two starts back on Feb. 7. In her last start, she finished sixth here in an allowance optional claiming race on Feb. 16. Declan Cannon has the saddle for trainer D. Wayne Lukas. I like the odds and I like she has won here before. Taking a shot.

Verdict: The pick.

#3, Lady C, Joe Talamo, 3-1

Lady C comes into today’s race with two straight wins in a maiden claiming race at Churchill Downs on Nov. 3 and an allowance race in her last at Delta Downs on Jan. 18. She has finished in the money in three straight races, is racing on her fifth straight different track and makes her first start at Oaklawn Park. Joe Talamo has the mount for trainer Tom Amoss. Let’s see if the streak continues to three. All things positive heading into today.

Verdict: Runner-up.

#2, Razeena, Ricardo Santana, Jr., 9-

The morning-line favorite Razeena has finished in the money in three of her last four starts, including back-to-back victories in her last two both at Fair Grounds. She won a maiden special weight race on Jan. 9 and an allowance optional claiming race on Feb. 6. This will be her 12th career start (2-2-2) and her first start here. Ricardo Santana, Jr. has the mount for trainer Brad Cox.

Verdict: Contender

#6, Profound Legacy, Tyler Baze, 5-1

This will also be her 12th career start (2-1-2), but she has not won since her first two career starts since summer of 2018. She has finished in the money in two of her last three and three of her last five starts and in her last, finished fifth in an allowance optional claiming race at Turfway Park on Jan. 18. Tyler Baze is in the saddle for trainer Michael Puhich.

Verdict: In the mix.
