Three picks and recommended wagers for Lone Star on Tuesday:

Race 5 – Pick #8 Averys Miss (4-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

The race looks to have plenty of speed so a horse coming off the pace looks to have the best chance of winning.  In her last start, Averys Miss was further off the pace than usual and after a wide trip, finished full of run despite finishing off the board. That was at six furlongs and now she stretches out to seven. With that race under her belt, she drops slightly in class and switches back to Danny Sorenson. Hopefully lessons were learned and Averys Miss will come off the pace to gain the victory.

Race 8 – Pick #7 Hulen (2-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

Steve Asmussen is one of the best trainers with juvenile runners. He isn’t afraid to ship horses to run all over the country for stakes races. Hulen last ran in the Grade 3 Bashford Manor at Churchill Downs in June He finished fourth that day and now ships to Lone Star to face statebreds for the first time in his career. He gets Lone Star’s leading jockey Ramon Vazquez to ride and he has been working well over this surface for this race.

Race 9 – Pick #6 Great Affection (3-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

Asmussen continues his dominance of the local juvenile ranks with Great Affection. After breaking her maiden in her career debut over this course, Great Affection came back to win the Texas Stallion Stakes Pan Zareta Division going five furlongs. She has worked steadily since then and Asmussen is doing something that could bring him to tears after the race. He named his son Keith to ride the horse. Keith began his riding career in June after being an exercise jock for his dad. He won for the first time on July 26th and has four career victories. Because of his size, he isn’t riding with the bug and will probably be like Joseph O’Brien. He will get to the point where he is too big to be a jockey and eventually becomes a trainer. But if he can win this stakes, it will be a moment that any father would be proud of and tears will be flowing in the winner’s circle.
