One of the biggest days of the annual calendar at Woodbine Racetrack is coming up Saturday, August 15, with five stakes races including three graded events and the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks. The 11-race card has a local first post of 1pm, with the first stakes race going at 2:03pm.

#1 Etoile (7-5) will take a lot of money since she is hailing from the Chad Brown outfit, but she hasn’t won in 15 months and has only raced once in 2020. It would be nice to beat her at a price, such as with #6 Bold Script (12-1) who is coming off a sharp allowance win July 11 for Stuart Simon and seems as likely as any in this race. #4 Elizabeth Way (2-1) is the local choice after three wins in five starts this year, including the Grade 2 Nassau last out.
Woodbine Race 7 - $125,000 Bold Venture Stakes (G3) - Click here to bet with TVG
#4 Pink Lloyd (4-5) is the star of Woodbine with a staggering 24 wins in 29 starts. For all his wins, he has lost this race twice in two tries. #8 White Flag (3-1) drops out of Grade 1 company, while #2 Malibu Secret (10-1) has been knocking at the door behind Pink Lloyd of late.

The best Canadian-bred sophomores in Canada make their final start before the $1 million Queen’s Plate here. Best Bet: #3 Clayton (4-5) has been the talk of the track; the son of Bodemeister has been favored in all three starts with a 7 ½ length maiden win in November and a three-length allowance romp July 18. Kevin Attard trains. #4 Halo Again (9-5) ships back in after running here July 4 with a win in the Queenston for trainer Steve Asmussen. He is unbeaten on this track but loses Rafael Hernandez to Clayton.
Woodbine Race 9 - $175,000 King Edward Stakes (G2) - Click here to bet with TVG
#5 Silent Poet (9-5) has won his last two starts including a Grade 2 here over seven furlongs. He is seven for 11 on the course and a multiple graded winner. Justin Stein will ride. #8 Delaware (5-2) is another Chad Brown shipper, second in allowance company at Belmont last out in his second United States start. Don’t count out Longshot Play: #1 Dream Maker (20-1) for Mark Casse; the son of Tapit was on the 2019 Kentucky Derby trail then off for 14 months. He ran fourth, beaten just two lengths, in his 2020 debut, needed that race, and gets turf for the first time.
Woodbine Race 10 - $500,000 Woodbine Oaks - Click here to bet with TVG
A tough edition of this classic race, with a field of 10 going 1 1/8 miles. #1 Curlin’s Voyage (3-1) has done almost everything right with four wins in eight starts on the course including the Fury Stakes last out over seven furlongs. #7 Merveilleux (4-1) puts blinkers on, has been top two in five of six starts here, and always runs her race. She comes off a bullet workout August 8. #8 Lasting Union (5-2) and #10 Infinite Patience (6-1) both look to improve here on the stretch out; with the latter being five for six lifetime.
