Picks and predictions for Thursday's meet at Saratoga

Our lead Horse Racing handicapper John DaSilva previews the racing at Saratoga on Thursday.

Race 4 – Pick #6 Boom Boom Kaboom (7/2 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

After a troubled trip as the favorite when making his first start for a tag, Boom Boom Kaboom comes back at the same distance and level for George Weaver. He added blinkers for that race and will keep the blinkers on here. There is a change of jockey from Manuel Franco to Ricardo Santana Jr. With that change, he might go off as an overlay at post time.

Race 7 – Pick #1 T Loves a Fight (3-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

People love hard knocking veterans. They consistently run their race and despite not winning, their fan base grows with each start. T Loves a Fight is a hard knocking state bred that has become popular on the NYRA circuit. He had a stretch of four consecutive in the money finishes in sprint stakes. In his last start he finished second in the John Morrissey Handicap. He drew the rail here and should get a stalking ground saving trip versus these.

Race 8 – Pick #4 The Important One (6-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

The lightly raced filly by Majestic City made her first start for Steve Asmussen as it was also her career debut on turf. There were fast fractions so she faded to last soon after the start, but then made a move on the far turn to reach contention. She angled widest of all in the stretch and just got up to win by a head. Despite the cut back in distance here, she should improve off that effort and her kck in the stretch should get her up in time again versus these.
