Race 4 – Pick #11 Caramelito (12-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

While further off the pace than usual in his first start for Anna Meah, Caramelito closed well to finish fourth when cutting back to this distance at this level. He comes back a week later at the same level and jockey Adam “Biscuit” Beschizza should have him close to the pace, which should be fast. With the base conditioning from the 10 route races prior to his last start, Caramelito should overtake the tiring pace setters and go on for the victory.

Race 8 – Pick #3 Sugar Fix (7-2 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

Saffie Joseph Jr. is an excellent trainer with horses first off the claim, winning at 21% in turf sprints the past five years. His record with horses second off the claim is almost as good, winning at 16% over the same period and parameters. After claiming Sugar Fix for $40,000 off a victory at Saratoga on July 30th, Saffie got aggressive and entered her in the Grade 3 Lake George. She set the pace before tiring to fifth. Now she drops to starter allowance company here. She does not need the lead but her tactical speed and class drop makes her tough to bet here.

Race 9 – Pick #3 Maven (5-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

Coming into closing day, Wesley Ward trails Mike Maker by one for the meet training title. Ward will be in four races while Maker is in the first eight races of the day. But Maker does not have a horse in this race while Ward goes with Maven. In his last start, Maven lost all chance when brushing with Island Commish at the start, allowing Jack and Noah to rush to the lead and wire the field to win the Mahony Stakes at Saratoga. He comes back in this spot and Ward has enough confidence in Maven that he ran Kimari, who was the 5/2 morning line favorite in this race, yesterday in the Music City Stakes. Maven comes in with an excellent work and Irad Ortiz Jr. should send him to the front and they will never look back, going on to victory.
