Racing analyst John DaSilva previews Friday's racing at Pimlico
ANALYSIS

Race 4 – Pick #4 Artful Splatter (3-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

Now that the race has been switched from the turf course to the main track, complexion of the race is totally changed. Main track only horses should dominate here. Morning line favorite Wicked Awesome was an impressive winner last out. Second-place finisher Artful Splatter did not have the greatest of starts out of the gate. But she recovered quickly to set the pace for most of the race before getting run down by Wicked Awesome. Artful Splatter will be the main pace of the race here and with the jockey change of Alex Cintron, she will break sharply without incident and go all away for the victory.

Race 10 – Pick #13 Singapore Trader (20-1 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

Another race that has switched from the turf course to the main track. Horatio DePaz was the former private trainer for Sagamore Farm, based in Maryland for Under Amour founder Kevin Plank. The past couple of years he branched out to become a public trainer, with one of his main clients now being Barry Schwartz, cofounder and chairman of Calvin Klein Incorporated. Now based in New York, DePaz has shown success on the NYRA circuit. He took a shot by shipping Singapore Trader, who was 0 for 3 on turf, to this spot. He probably was hoping race will be switched main track and it happened. He will be the main pacesetter of the race and lead all the way for the victory. While presently Singapore Trader is scheduled to break from post 13, after late scratches are announced, he probably will end up breaking from anywhere between post five and seven.

Race 11 – Pick #4 Someday Jones (9/2 ML) - Click here to bet with TVG

This is going to be an extremely competitive edition of the Pimlico Special. Field includes last year’s winner Tenfold, third-place finisher Cardmaker, 2019 UAE Derby winner Plus Que Parfait and last year’s third-place finisher in the Preakness, Owendale, who is also the morning line favorite for this race. Someone is going to get overlooked at the mutuel windows and it can easily be Someday Jones. The John Servis trainee has a lifetime record of 11 for 27 on dirt and the multiple stakes winner is still seeking his first graded stakes victory. There is not much quality pace in the race so jockey Trevor McCarthy could try to steal this race on the front end. The horse can do it and should go off an overlay at post time.
