Guadalajara takes on Leon later today in the Liga MX league. Handicapper John Hyslop is here to break down the matchup. Can Leon stack up the goals today?
ANALYSIS

Wednesday Best Bet: Guadalajara vs Leon Liga MX Soccer Prediction (July 20)

Tonight the greatest old man softball team ever assembled, Just the Tip, will begin their 2022 season. Obviously, it's a big night and while neither DraftKings nor FanDuel have returned my multiple calls and emails about setting lines and taking action for these games, I'm confident we'll be able to bet these things in the future. It's only right so definitely stay tuned for that. (If you want real entertainment, a team total (over) for plus money in an old man softball game is the way to go. Everyone knows that.) But for tonight, we'll need something other than a random old man softball game to bet on and that's where Liga MX comes in.

Lucky for us, they had the foresight to schedule a single game tonight and it begins at 10:00 pm ET. Obviously, that is perfect since we have literally no other sport to gamble on at that time. Nothing. Literally nothing.

Guadalajara vs Leon Pick

Club Leon Team Total Over 1.5 (+175) (Bet $100 to win $175)

*Odds available at DraftKings at time of publishing*

We're at DraftKings for this one since I can't find a way to bet team totals at FanDuel. I'm not saying they don't have them, I'm just saying I couldn't find them. It takes a big man to admit when he can't find something so we should keep that in mind. If you're a BetMGM person, you're only getting 1.5 (+155). Normally I'd say pass on that, but then I'd be saying not to gamble which I'd never say. You can't pass when there's nothing else to bet on. Your hands are tied here.

Guadalajara vs Leon Prediction

Let's just state the obvious here, I've never seen either of these teams play. We're talking Liga MX here. I do know that their games are sometimes televised here in Massachusetts so there is that. It should be noted that they are usually on the Spanish-speaking channels so it could be difficult to understand the announcers if you don't speak that language. Still, gambling knows no language so we're good there. All we need to be able to do is count to two.

If you didn't know, I coach youth soccer (girls) so I have plenty of experience counting goals. It's easy. I didn't play soccer growing up so I don't know the sport per se, but I think that's my advantage. We don't need stats, experience, and logic getting in the way of our bets. We just need to know what's a good price (probably). If we're being honest, all you have to do is look for a plus money sign next to an over and hammer it. Feels easy.

I kind of lied when I said there would be no logic with this pick because there is (kind of). The team we're backing has played three games so far this season. In those three games, they've hung at least two in two of the contests. The only time they didn't was when they played a good team (probably) in Puebla. They still scored a goal in that game and it was a weird game since there were red cards. In my opinion, that game shouldn't count. I have a hard time believing they won't hang at least two on this Guadalajara team that looks like they could be the worst team in the league. At the end of the day, +175 seems too good for a bet like this. I'm taking it.
