Liverpool v Barcelona Pick & Betting Preview
Jurgen Klopp’s men find themselves heading towards a heart-breaking end to the Premier League season, picking up maximum points from each game they face in the knowledge that it’s unlikely be enough to stop the Manchester City juggernaut.
On top of that, their fate in this year's Champions League was all but decided at the Nou Camp in Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat. Left to rue missed opportunities, the Reds struggled to finish off plenty of promising attacking moves, capped off by Mo Salah finding the post with the goal gaping.
In the end the tie was decided not by tactical shortfalls on the part of Jurgen Klopp or any ground-breaking manoeuvres from Ernesto Valverde, but as is so often the case, by the brilliance of Lionel Messi.
Facing a three-goal deficit, Liverpool will throw everything at Barca at Anfield, but the news that Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah will be unavailable comes as a huge blow to the home side.
That means Liverpool will have just one talisman in attack, and I’m not referring to Divock Origi. Sadio Mane has on so many occasions this season been the man to turn to, even with his trusty sidekicks Bobby and Mo on the pitch.
With the front three looking severely depleted for this crucial second leg, but goals very much on the agenda, I'm backing Mane to find the net at +162.
