Besiktas vs. Dortmund
The Turkish giants automatically qualified in the UCL group stage after winning their domestic top-flight league last season on goal difference. Moreover, they were super active this summer, signing great players in their quest for silverware. Of course, we don’t expect them to win the Champions League, but they have all the necessary weapons to pull off some great upset, and why not earn a knock-out spot from a group with Dortmund, Ajax, and Sporting.
Besiktas has players like; Rachid Ghezzal from Leicester, Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea, Miralem Pjanic from Barcelona, Alex Teixeira, former Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder, Mehmet Topal from Basaksehir, a defensive midfielder with tremendous experience in the Turkish league.
They kicked off their Super Lig season in style. They are joint leaders earning 10 points in 4 games, keeping four clean sheets in the process. They look very solid at the back but let’s be honest; this is their first big test of the season, so they will look to build on their strong start and with their UCL clash. Their attack looks excellent, but you must score at least 3-4 goals if you want to beat Dortmund.
Marco Rose and Co. struggle with defensive injuries. Despite not keeping clean sheets, they are still sitting third in Bundesliga after 4 games. They have the joint best attack with 13 goals scored, but they are the worst defensive side in the top 10 with 9 goals conceded in the process. Erling Haaland is sitting second in the Bundesliga top scorers’ chart, behind Robert Lewandowski, with 5 goals netted in 4 games. Overall, he’s the most in-form striker in Europe. He scored 13 goals in nine matches across all competitions. However, there’s no betting value on him to be anytime goalscorer (-200 with BetMGM).
Dortmund cruised through the group stage last season, earning 13 points in 6 games, and after knocking out Sevilla in the previous 16, they lost the quarter-finals in a double-legged tie against Man City. However, we expect them once again to qualify further, and why not make it to quarters once again.
This will probably be one of the most entertaining games on the day in UCL, so we are going for over 2.5 goals in the match.
1st Leg of Parlay: Over 2.5 goals (-175)
Clube Brugge vs. Paris Saint-Germain
Club Brugge are no walkovers, but they were very unlucky to be drawn in a group with Man City, PSG, and RB Leipzig. Maybe fight Leipzig for that third-place finish and a Europa League knock-out spot because they will probably earn ZERO points from their games against the Citizens and PSG. They possess some young and talented players, but their experience at this level is limited.
They will have to face the world’s most deadly trio: Leo Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar. So how to prepare for such a clash? Usually, your coach will try to make you understand you have nothing to lose and focus on your team.
Despite leading the pack in the Belgium top-flight league, Brugge conceded 11 goals in 7 games. Two weeks ago, they shipped 6 goals to Gent. Imagine facing Messi, Mbappe, and Neymar? More than that, PSG will probably play Hakimi and Wijnaldum, and we expect them to kick off the UCL season with an easy win and an excellent performance.
I have a feeling that all three world-class players (Messi, Mbappe, and Neymar) will find the back of the net on Wednesday, so if your sportsbook allows you to parlay them, go for it with a small “beer money” stake. For the 2nd leg of this parlay, we’re going with PSG -1.5. This is because they should easily cover the -1.5 Asian Handicap line. So this should be a 3-1, 4-1 type of game, with PSG returning home with the 3 points.
2nd Leg of Parlay: PSG -1.5 at (-145)
