Champions League Parlay: Trusting Ajax to Put up Goals

Atletico Madrid vs. Man United Prediction

Atletico Madrid vs Man United odds

This is by far Atletico Madrid’s worst defensive season under Diego Simeone. They were far from convincing in the UCL group stage, winning just two of their six matches in a group with Liverpool, FC Porto, and AC Milan but the Reds helped them book their knock-out stages spot having a perfect record in the group.

Atletico has the worst defensive record between the top 11 teams in the standings with 34 goals allowed in 25 games. They are 15 points adrift of leaders Real Madrid and equal with Barcelona, their direct opponent for the UCL positions. They have lost seven of their last 14 matches across all competitions dropping all three points in a shocking defeat to Levante last week. The dressing room is at its lowest point only months after being crowned champions, the solidity has broken down due to decisions taken and some of the key players are not happy with Simeone’s tactics.

They must come together as a team because Man United, despite their issues and lack of cohesion, is still one of the good European teams. We're familiar with United's defensive frailties and there should be goals in this one. Manchester United has just one win in their last seven trips to Spain. They’ve shown encouraging signs in their latest Premier League fixtures against Brighton and Leeds and when they have their attacking line in great form they can beat teams like Atletico Madrid.

  • 1st Pick of the Parlay: Over 2 goals in the match

Benfica vs. Ajax Prediction

Benfica vs Ajax odds

Ajax has been in superb form this season across all competition but mostly in the UCL. They are sitting five points clear at the top of their domestic league and they are one of the three teams who picked up maximum points in the Champions League group stage. On top of that their striker Sebastien Haller is leading the top scorers’ chart with 10 goals netted in six UCL games. They are unbeaten in their last three visits to Benfica, who are without a win in six meetings between the teams

On the other side, Benfica managed to beat Barcelona 3-0 in the group stage but they got trashed both home and away by Bayern Munich. Nelson Verissimo, who has replaced Jorge Jesus since the first phase of this competition, will need to improve Benfica’s defensive game in order to have a chance against a high-scoring team such as Ajax. Benfica failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six fixtures across all competitions. At home, they failed to find the back of the net just twice all season long with one of the games being against Bayern Munich. We expect a high-scoring match with at least three goals on the scoreboard.

  • Pick: Over 2.5 goals in the match

Burnley vs. Tottenham Prediction

Burnley vs. Tottenham odds

Tottenham will look to build on a thrilling 3-2 win over Man City when they travel to play Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday. They did well to put an end to their three-game losing streak and their main objective is to finish in the top four and qualify in the Champions League. Kulusevski, Kane, Son are forming a great attacking trio and we expect them to deliver once against Burnley.

Burnley suffered major injury scares with their new transfer Wout Weghorst and Maxwel Cornet during the Brighton clash, but Sean Dyche believes they will be ready in time for this clash. Burnley has been really poor this season, while also scoring just 20 goals so far, the lowest in the division after only bottom-placed Norwich. Despite playing on the road, Tottenham should have enough to make it two wins in a row which will help them close the gap on the European spots.

  • Pick: Tottenham Team Total Over 1.5 goals
