Soccer handicapper Alex Campean is here with his best bets for Wednesday's Champions League Playoffs between Dynamo Kyiv vs. Benfica. Will we see goals during Champions League Playoffs? Let's check out Alex's predictions.

Dynamo Kyiv vs. Benfica Prediction

Dynamo Kyiv hosts Benfica in the playoff first leg in Poland as they cannot play their home matches in Ukraine because of the ongoing conflict.

For so many times this season, we faded Dynamo Kyiv and they proved us wrong on each occasion. They were very lucky to knock out Fenerbahce with the Turkish side missing a penalty and playing for the entire second half and extra time with a man down. They also needed extra time in the second leg with Sturm Graz but they managed to qualify in the playoffs without playing a competitive match this year besides the UCL qualifiers.

The Ukrainians are regulars in the group stage of the Champions League but their inconsistent performance and lack of competitive games must be concerning for manager Mircea Lucescu. The Romanian coach is obsessed with the defensive part of the game. Despite struggling to find an attacking rhythm, Dynamo Kyiv is defending well and their first objective is not to concede. They are unbeaten in the qualifiers winning three in four fixtures but Benfica is by far their biggest test. It’s important to note that the losing team will play in the Europa League group stages.

On the other side, Benfica enjoyed a brilliant pre-season campaign winning all their five friendlies against teams like Nice, Newcastle and Fulham. They kicked off their domestic season in style picking up maximum points from their opening two games against Arouca and Casa Pia, keeping two clean sheets in the process. In the previous qualifying round, they destroyed Midtjylland, beating them 7-2 on aggregate. They enter this clash on the back of 10 wins across all competitions and we expect them to extend their beautiful run of form.

The Portuguese giants lost Darwin Nunez in the summer transfer window but they found the perfect replacement for the Uruguayan striker. The 21-year-old Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos is Benfica’s new sensation and probably their next big transfer. Ramos has now been involved in 12 goals and assists in his last 11 games for club and country, including the winning goal against Casa Pia. He’s once again expected to lead the attacking line and find the back of the net.

Benfica should have enough to qualify in the UCL group stages. They are fully packed with talented players, they have a great pace and creativity and they have the necessary weapons to open Dynamo’s stubborn defense.

Benfica has never lost to Dynamo Kyiv, picking up three wins and a draw from four previous mutual encounters. Both teams met in the group stage of the Champions League last season with Benfica playing out a 0-0 draw in Ukraine before returning home for a 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture. Benfica has impressed in the final third this season finding the back of the net in both halves in the two fixtures against Midtjylland.

We have three betting picks for this clash. First of all, we expect Benfica to win and solve the qualification issue from the first let. We also expect them to score at least twice in Poland. For our third and final pick, we are going for cards. As we previously mentioned, Dynamo Kyiv will probably try to defend for 90 minutes. One on one, Benfica’s players have two classes above their opponents and will push them to commit many faults during the game.
