EURO 2020 Odds: Spain vs. Sweeden

Euro 2020 has hit its stride with three more compelling group stage fixtures set to be played on Monday. The marquee match of the day will see Euro 2008 and 2012 winners Spain start their campaign against tournament regulars Sweden in Seville, where the heat on the pitch could be matched by that off it.

Scotland will also play their first match of Euro 2020 having waited 23 years to appear at a major tournament while Poland and Slovakia will face each other in Saint Petersburg. Here are some predictions and picks for Monday June 14 at Euro 2020.

Spain vs. Sweden Prediction

Group E, Seville, 3:00 pm ET

This is a Spain team in transition with the likes of Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez and Gerard Pique long gone. There’s also no sign of Sergio Ramos, who was left out of Luis Enrique’s 24-man squad for this tournament. This indicates a desire from the former Barcelona manager to take Spanish football into a new era.

That era could be dominated by the likes of Pedri, the 18-year-old playmaker who made his breakthrough at Barcelona last season, Ferran Torres, Manchester City’s versatile forward, Marcos Llorente, Atletico Madrid’s man for every job, and a few others. Spain still have the talent to go a long way at this tournament.

Sweden made the quarter finals of the 2018 World Cup and much like Spain are going through a generational transition. Alexander Isak will pose a genuine threat to Unai Simon’s, an opponent the Swedish striker knows well having played in a number of Basque derbies, goal. Sweden must find a way to get service to their number nine if they are to take anything from this match.

Group D, Glasgow, 9:00 am ET

Scotland have waited 23 years for this match. They have, however, faced Czech Republic twice in the last year and won both times. With a home crowd behind them at Hampden Park. Steve Clarke’s side are a good bet to start their Euro 2020 campaign will three points.

EURO 2020 Odds: Poland vs. Slovakia Prediction

Group E, Saint Petersburg, 12:00 pm ET

Poland have a history of underwhelming at major tournaments, but this should be a soft opener for Robert Lewandowski and co. The Bayern Munich striker, who scored 41 league goals last season, is among the best players in the world at this moment in time and will be difficult to stop here.
