Our picks for this weekend's MLS action
ANALYSIS

Another weekend of Major League Soccer action is upon us and as usual there’s no shortage of stories and plot lines to draw upon. LAFC are looking to bounce back after a blip, while there’s an East coast clash at Yankee Stadium. Here are four picks for the weekend in MLS.

New York City FC v New England Revolution

Yankee Stadium, Saturday September 7

New York City FC have found a vein of form recently, winning four league matches on the spin. Indeed, the Bronx side have won seven of their last eight games played at Yankee Stadium. However, the New England Revolution are also unbeaten in their last four and 15 of their last 16 MLS matches. Bruce Arena has made them tougher to beat.

NYC FC have won by a one-goal margin in their last three home games, with over 2.5 goals scored in nine of their last 10 games. This promises to be a tight encounter between two teams who are looking upwards in the Eastern Conference, but the Yankee Stadium side appear to have the edge.

0.75u - Back Draw/New York City FC Half Time/Full Time @ +425

Orlando City v Los Angeles FC

Exploria Stadium, Saturday September 7

For the first time all season, Los Angeles FC find themselves in the midst of a slide in form. Indeed, Bob Bradley’s side come into this game on the back of a disappointing draw away to the LA Galaxy and a home defeat to Minnesota United. However, Orlando City are winless in their last three matches. They too are low on confidence.

LAFC have scored at least two goals in each of their last five games on the road, while there has been under 2.5 goals in Orlando City’s last five home matches. Something has to give. The Californians’ form has been patchy of late, but they will still be favourites to leave Central Florida with three points.

1.5u - Back Los Angeles FC To Win @ -137

Colorado Rapids v Seattle Sounders

Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Saturday September 7

The Seattle Sounders come into this match on the back of two big wins. Indeed, the Sounders showed what they were made of with victories over the LA Galaxy and the Portland Timbers and the omens are good for them ahead of this trip to take on the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Indeed, Seattle have won their last seven games against the Rapids in all competitions. There has also been over 2.5 goals scored in the Sounders’ last six games, while there has been over 2.5 goals in 24 of the Colorado Rapids’ last 28 home matches. There should be goals in this one and the Sounders should have the edge.

0.5u - Back Seattle Sounders To Score 2+ Goals @ +125

Portland Timbers v Sporting KC

Providence Park, Saturday September 7

Last week’s win over Real Salt Lake went some way to reversing the Portland Timbers’ recent poor run of form at home. Now, Gio Savarese’s side faces another match at Providence Park as the Timbers look to continue their climb up the Western Conference and into the play-off places. Two points separate them from the LA Galaxy in seventh spot.

Sporting KC lie just three points behind Portland and so this is also an opportunity for them to drag themselves into play-off contention after what has been a disappointing season to date. Peter Vermes’ side have won their last three games, but this will be a tough test. It’s never easy to come away with three points from Portland.

1u - Back Draw @ +305
