New England Revolution vs. NYFC prediction and pick from Graham Ruthven for this Eastern Conference showdown in the MLS

New England Revolution vs. NYFC Prediction and Pick

With the Major League Soccer playoffs starting to appear on the horizon, it’s important that teams build up momentum. As things stand, the New England Revolution are set to win the Eastern Conference title and the Supporters’ Shield. Indeed, Bruce Arena’s side have been a dominant force in 2021.

However, there has also been signs that New York City FC will be a force in the post-season even if Ronny Deila’s side are currently only in fourth place in the East. This could be one of the most compelling fixtures remaining in the regular season. Here are some tips and predictions ahead of the MLS fixture between New England and NYC FC.

New England Revolution vs. NYFC

When: Saturday September 11, 7pm ET

Where: Gillette Stadium

Revolution vs. NYFC odds

Only Nashville have taken more points at home this season than the Revolution who look to have real momentum behind them ahead of the play-offs. Indeed, Arena’s side have won five of their last six league matches. However, the one match they didn’t win in that streak was against NYC FC last month, when the Bronx team won 2-0.

New England have scored at least twice in seven of their last eight home matches in MLS and will be expected to continue their strong form at Gillette Stadium on Saturday against one of their biggest Eastern Conference rivals. They certainly have the firepower to claim all three points against NYC FC.

However, Carles Gil, widely seen as one of the most effective creators in the league, is a doubt for the match with a muscle injury while Arnor Ingvi Trautason will miss out through suspension. Nonetheless, it will be difficult for New York City FC to stop the New England Revolution on their own patch.

NYC FC are without a win in their last six league matches on the road and with Maxi Moralez and Jesus Medina ruled out through suspension and Heber expected to miss out through injury Deila might have to adopt a more pragmatic, conservative approach to stand any chance of claiming a positive result.
