Everton v Burnley Picks & Betting Preview
We’ve seen so many dull, one-sided, attack vs defence Premier League borefests this season, I’m genuinely rather excited for Everton v Burnley. It’s not the sexiest fixture in the world, but both sides will still have a proper go at each other, and that’s a refreshing change from watching televised training drills 80% of the time.
That said, don’t expect many goals to be scored on Friday, so this is likely to be filed under ‘One For The Purists’; but there’s certainly nothing wrong with that!
I only have two picks for this one, but they’re both fairly strong fancies.
The first is under 2.5 goals.
Interestingly, there have been under 2.5 goals scored in five of Everton’s last six matches, while there have been over 2.5 goals scored in five of Burnley’s last six away games.
On top of this, Burnley have scored at least twice in five of their last six on the road, which could make this a fascinating contest with an Everton side with four straight home clean sheets.
I’m leaning towards this being low-scoring rather than high-scoring, however. The season’s winding down, and I imagine both sides will produce plenty of huff but no real puff.
That’s not to say it’ll be as dreadful as Everton’s ‘match’ with Crystal Palace last week – I just expect the defences to prevail.
2u - Under 2.5 Goals @-102
My second and final pick is pretty similar: a goalless first half.
Everton have gone into the break drawing 0-0 16 times this season—by some distance their favourite half-time scoreline—while Burnley have had 11 goalless first halves.
This season’s evidence suggests +200 is decent value.
1.5u - Draw 0-0 [Half Time Score] @+200
