Aston Villa vs. Wolves Picks
(2u) Wolves to Win and Under 3.5 Goals @ +135
It’s becoming increasingly clear that Wolves are genuine contenders to finish in the Champions League places.
Nuno’s men have been outstanding since the restart, and they now find themselves just two points outside the top four, and their defensive solidity, coupled with their attacking resources, will make them a very, very hard side to beat.
They face a Villa side who, although they’ve picked up two points from their opening three games, have a very difficult run-in, starting on Saturday against Wolves, so this is a hugely important one for Dean Smith.
Their draw at St. James’ Park is exactly the sort of missed opportunity that will cost Villa further down the line, and looking at how Wolves dispatched West Ham and Bournemouth with clean sheets (both fellow relegation battlers), I do wonder how Villa lay a glove on them.
Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore are dove-tailing brilliantly these days, and Villa’s lackluster defense will not enjoy tackling those two all afternoon.
Wolves beat Villa, 2-1, at Molineux back in November, and Villa’s lack of cutting edge they showed against Newcastle (their goal came thanks to a Martin Dubravka error), coupled with their obvious defensive issues, will play right into Wolves’ hands.
At this stage, Wolves will take some stopping if they’re to be out of the Champions League equation come the end of the season, and Villa are not going to be one of those stopping them.
Wolves to win and under 3.5 goals in the game, priced at +135, looks a solid value play.
