Burnley vs. Sheffield United predictions - 7:00am EST
Sheffield United to win @ +180
- Sheffield United have scored 2+ goals in their previous 3 games versus Burnley in all competitions
There isn't a team in the league who have perplexed me like Sheffield United since the restart. They started so poorly against my expectations, and then just as I begin to turn on them, they decide to hammer Tottenham on Thursday night. That performance was sensational and a reminder of the team we saw earlier in the season. Oli McBurnie was incredible up top, with strong hold up play and a goal to go with it. If the Blades play anything like that again then they'll secure 3 points with ease.
Newcastle vs. West Ham predictions - 9:15am EST
Newcastle to win @ +175
- Newcastle haven't been beaten in their previous 5 home games
When Newcastle hired Steve Bruce we all laughed at them for hiring a dinosaur and joked that it was destined to fail. We were wrong. What Steve Bruce has done this season has been incredibly impressive and not many managers would have been able to match his achievements with one of the league's most mismatched squads.
Today they'll be facing a Hammers team who are similiar in that their squad feels less of a blend of players, and more like a random selection of players picked from a pack, without any thought or squad building. Both teams are available at +175 for the win, showing just how close they are, but for me the management of Steve Bruce and the x-factor that Allan Saint-Maximin can provide, gives them the advantage.
Liverpool vs. Aston Villa predictions - 11:30am EST
Liverpool/Liverpool (Halftime/Fulltime) @ -105
- Liverpool have won at halftime and fulltime in 15 of their last 18 EPL games
I don't feel as comfortable as I should after that disgrace of a performance by Liverpool against Manchester City, even if it is understandable given they had nothing beyond pride to play for. That said I imagine they, or the youngsters, will be embarrassed after that result and dish out some retribution on Aston Villa. This game feels like one which will either be a high scoring Liverpool win or a scrappy Villa 1-0. I'm not feeling quite confident enough to back Villa to win at +800 though so we'll go with Liverpool to be winning at halftime and fulltime, as they've done so often this season.
Southampton vs. Manchester City predictions - 2:00pm EST
Total Away Goals over 2.5 @ +120
- Man City have scored 2+ goals in 6 of their last 7 against Southampton
Southampton have shown some impressive moments of late but the after watching Man City destory Liverpool it's hard to look beyond them getting the win. The question is only about how many they score and the answer really could be anything. I'm backing them to notch 3+ goals, something they're very capable of doing, especially with the league's best player Kevin De Bruyne in such incredible form. Likewise Phil Foden has been majestic recently and it would be a surprise to him being instrumental in the victory, and at +290 could be a good bet to score.
