Wednesday Premier League Picks
1u – Under 2.5 goals @ -108
- There have been under 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Burnley's last 9 league games
This Burnley team are incredibly tight at the back. They've conceeded just 22 goals this season, which besides Arsenal was the best record in the lower half of the table at the the start of this gameweek. They're masters at stopping their opponents score, sadly this keeps their attack stagnant too, with Burnley tied with Sheffield United, on just 10 goals scored this year, the lowest total in the league. Villa know where the net is but they've slowed down of late, scoring just 5 goals in their past 5 games in all competitions. It's hard to this see one exploding with goals.
1u – Chelsea -1 @ +180
- Wolves have conceeded 2+ goals in their past 3 league games
The 'new manager bounce' is a real thing and something that we've seen so many times through the seasons. When a manager leaves there is a temporary freedom which results in teams performing better. Chelsea haven't been awful this year and with Thomas Tuchel as their new manager they'll start to improve. I can see them putting on a real performance in this game, and it wouldn't be a surprise is one of Chelsea's much maligned expensive new signings were to score.
1u - Over 3.5 goals @ +280
- Everton have scored at least 2 goals in 10 of their last 12 home games against Leicester in all competitions
These are two of the most enjoyable sides in the Premier League to watch and I'm expecting a high scoring goal. When these two meet it often leads to goals, with Everton notching at least 2 goals in 10 of their past 12 home games against Leicester. Likewise they've seen over 2.5 goals in 11 of those 12 home games. Leicester may not have Jamie Vardy but they've still scored at least 2 goals in 5 of their last 6 games. We should see some goals here.
1u - Man Utd to win to nil @ +100
- Man Utd haven't conceded a goal in any of their past 3 home games against the Blades.
There are a number of differences between these two teams but to put it simply, the most important is goals. Man Utd have scored 36 goals in the Premier League this season, with Sheffield United scoring just 10 times in 19 games. This team has no firepower and Man Utd's defense, which has improved rapidly over the past month, should be more than enough to combat this dreadful attack.
