Forget the Super Bowl, this is the biggest game of the weekend, although if you want the best free bets for the Super Bowl then you can get them here. We're here for soccer though, so let's get stuck into this.
Sunday started with Man City 7 points clear of Liverpool at the summit of the Premier League, with a game in hand on today's rivals Liverpool, who are in fourth. Between them are Manchester United and Leicester City, with the Foxes set to play today too.
Despite still being relatively close in the table, it feels like these two teams are world's apart. Liverpool have been in one of their worst runs since Jurgen Klopp came to Merseyside and lost 1-0 to Premier League strugglers Brighton last time out. They're still yet to integrate their new defensive signings into the lineup but that could and should change today.
We know all about Liverpool's defensive struggles and there is no doubt that the missing Virgil van Dijk is a huge loss, but in my view the biggest issue is that their famous front three have stagnated. Sadio Mane has been injured and Roberto Firmino hasn't been at the levels which we've seen previously. Mo Salah has shown glimpses of his previous form, and is still the league's top scorer don't forget, but isn't quite what he was. Class is permanent and form is temporary, so we could see them reignite but that won't be today.
Manchester City's defense has been incredible this year, arguably for the first time since Pep Guardiola came to the city. City have only conceeded 13 goals in 21 league games this season, which is 9 goals better than any other team in the league. Ruben Dias could be the signing of the season and he's added such steel to this backline and has helped John Stones find the form that saw him move to City all those years ago.
When it comes to today's game I don't think Liverpool's home advantage means anything, Anfield without fans isn't the same, so today's game is purely about the players on the field. You can tell by Jurgen Klopp's outbursts this week that he's scared and he knows that Liverpool's title hopes are fading fast. I believe he's getting in his excuses in early and that Man City will win comfortably today.
Man City are great value at +108 today but I'm looking for more and at +310 I can't ignore taking City with a one goal handicap. This defense is so strong that I can't see Liverpool scoring, that isn't the case for City who will be able to net at least twice against this makeshift backline.
