Man City welcome Tottenham to the Etihad on Saturday in a game which could be a real statement for Manchester City.
City have been in incredible form this year, their attack isn't quite as effective as it has been previously but their defense is hugely improved. The arrival of Ruben Dias and the return to form of John Stones, has created a strong central pairing. In front of them the incredible Gundogan has finally reached the levels that we saw at his previous club Dortmund. He's been the best City player this season in my view and combined with Rodri, and in particular, the imperious Fernandinho, there is real protection for the backline.
Spurs meanwhile are a mess. It was only a few months ago when they topped the league and we questioned whether Spurs could mount a title challenge. That feels lightyears in the past now with Jose Mourinho showing worrying signs of his traditional destructive methods.
Spurs won't win this game. They aren't good enough and Mourinho is sleepwalking to the sack. They will try and keep things tight, as Mourinho is so well known for, and it might well work for a period of time. It won't last though, it'll be tough to keep City out, especially with their attacking players, such as Phil Foden, in such form.
We've seen some incredible clashes between old foes Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho in the past and the ex-Madrista will be keen to stop the ex-Barca man again, which is why I love the +375 on a draw at halftime, with City winning at fulltime.
The reality is that while Pep has continued to adapt and grow, with this City team alone being a clear advance on his first City teams, we've not seen that from Mourinho. Whenever he tries to be attacking, be creative, he retreats back into his shell after the first sign of trouble. He is yesterday's man and ultimately he won't be able to keep in touch with the future for long, although his Spurs team could reach halftime level on Satuday.
